The Myth of Contractual Immunity for Workplace Accidents: Workshop & Happy Hour: POSTPONED

This event has been postponed. Please check back to our website in November for the new date.

Construction projects frequently involve several different parties. There may be an owner and/or operator of an existing facility. There may be a consulting engineer or other professionals who assisted in the design and development of the project specification, and perhaps provided third-party on-site observations during the construction project. There may be a general contractor, and one or more specialty subcontractors.

This workshop will present a hypothetical accident scenario involving various parties where one employee of a subcontractor is fatally injured. Following the hypothetical accident, we will discuss the various areas of exposure including civil liability and contractual indemnity, and statutory liability under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's ("OSHA") multi-employer policy. We will also talk about best practices for risk management, and the steps a company can take to minimize potential liability exposure.

Who should attend? Contractors, subcontractors, design professionals. Business owners, field supervisors, safety managers and directors, and purchasing agents and estimators who are responsible for contract review can all benefit from this curriculum. Join us for a great interactive workshop, followed by happy hour and one on one conversations with our faculty, Attorneys Kate Strauss of Galvanize Law Group and Kristin White of Fisher Phillips.
